12 rugby club social media content ideas for the season

Matchday content carries most clubs' social feeds, and it should, but a feed that only posts on Saturdays goes quiet for six days out of seven. Here's what fills the gap without becoming a second job.

  • Starting XV reveal: the week's team sheet, posted the moment it's confirmed.
  • Score card: final result, posted within minutes of the whistle.
  • Player of the match: one player, one line on why.
  • Training-week countdown: a simple "3 days to kickoff" post with the fixture.
  • Sponsor spotlight: a short post crediting a shirt or club sponsor, useful for the sponsor relationship as much as the feed.
  • Fundraiser progress: the total so far against the target, posted every week or two until it lands.
  • Milestone posts: 50th cap, first start, testimonial season.
  • New signing or player announcement: one graphic, same house style as everything else.
  • Fixture list drop: the month or half-season ahead, posted once and pinned.
  • Behind-the-scenes: training photos, no graphic needed, just consistency.
  • Away-day travel post: squad photo before the bus leaves.
  • Season record graphic: wins, losses, points for and against, posted monthly.
  • End-of-season awards: POTY, top try scorer, most improved, each as its own card.

Why consistency matters more than volume

A club that posts the same three or four formats reliably (team sheet, score, POTM, sponsor nod) reads as more established than one that posts sporadically but elaborately. Sponsors and alumni notice the pattern before they notice any single post.

Set the house style once and every one of these becomes a two-minute job instead of a design task. The ones that pull double duty, the sponsor nod, the fundraiser update, are also the ones that pay for the season.
